A native of suburban Philadelphia, Dr. Hoffrichter completed his bachelors degree at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1991. After finishing his four years of dental training at the New York University College of Dentistry in 1995, he continued on to pursue specialty training in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, and surrounding area hospitals. This four year hospital-based residency program offered excellent exposure to all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Hoffrichter's training included extensive work in acute shock/trauma and the management of facial injuries. He also spent six months as a member of the Cleft Palate / Craniofacial team at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Upon completion of his residency training in 1999, Dr. Hoffrichter moved to Newport, Rhode Island, to accept an associate position in private practice. In late 2000, he moved back to Maryland, and now lives in Frederick County with his wife, Barri, their children and their cat.

In 2003, Dr. Hoffrichter completed the requirements for Board Certification by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is currently the Section Chief of the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
